What Parents Need to Know

This review of ABC Kids was written by Heidi Kotansky

Parents need to know that although there's no advertising on the site, the featured games promote TV characters and shows on ABC Kids. Most of the games will actually teach your kid a thing or two about hand-eye coordination, concentration, and detective work. If you click on one of the tabs that take you to Disney's main page, you'll get a message saying you're heading to a place with ads. One thing to keep in mind: Disney.com has chat rooms (they're safe), full-length TV episodes (they can contain some scary, cartoon-like violence), behind-the-scenes movie clips, music videos, and a chance to "buy" other things with earned points.

More on ABC Kids

What’s the Story?

ABCKIDS.COM offers online games based on their popular kids' TV shows and a schedule to see when the limited number of shows are on. Each Saturday morning show has its own section with a handful of games that actually might teach your kid something. At the time of the review, there were eight shows (from Kim Possible to The Suite Life of Zach and Cody) and more than 50 games featured. Most of the games do go beyond the ever-present, generic matching games. Yes, those are here, too, but your kids will find themselves matching colors to make an out-of-focus photo clear or creating a sandwich using healthy foods.

Is It Any Good?

ABC KIDS isn't an involved site; its simple design makes for easy navigation. The only thing iffy about this site is that kids can enter the Disney.com maze with one click. (If you do click on one of the tabs that take you to Disney's main page, you'll get a message saying you're heading to a place with ads.) Disney.com has chat rooms (they're safe), full-length TV episodes (they can contain some scary, cartoon-like violence), behind-the-scenes movie clips, music videos, and a chance to "buy" things with earned points.

    ABC kids

This website is so much different then the regular ABC channel. It's really fun and I chalenged my dad to play one of the games. He didn't wanna look at the directions and he quit after the first 30 seconds. It was a game about business and he acully didn't get it!
