Parents need to know
Parents need to know that in the video Sk8ter Boi there is suggested vandalism. The "Join Team Avril" link does have a privacy policy, but the main site does not, even though you can send your email address and join the mailing list.
Families can talk about the appeal of pop superstars. Do you like Avril Lavigne's music, and if so, why? What kind of message does she send to teens through her music and her Web site?

What's the story?

This site gives a brief biography of Avril Lavigne, as well as a few personal postings in her blog. There are only six postings in almost two years, but at least they seem genuine, since an Avril impostor Web "stylist" would probably be posting fresh comments every day! There is a calendar of upcoming tour dates, and a gallery of Avril photos. In all of them, she's fully clothed, usually clad in a T-shirt, jeans, numerous jelly bracelets, and chipped nail polish (again, probably no stylist here). Check out the Avril merchandise in the online store, too. There are audio song clips, of course, most of them harmless, and there’s a handful of full-length music videos. There's an invitation to join Team Avril and participate in her real-life "street team," too. The more promotional activities members participate in, the more cool Avril "creds" they can collect; eventually, creds can be redeemed for Avril merchandise.
Is it any good?
It’s a fun site for Avril fans, just watch out for some slightly risqué content, such as the seemingly racy lyrics to her “Naked” song.
