Would you allow a total stranger of any age or sex into your child or teen's bedroom? Sites like this make that possible--without you even being there to supervise! Omegle* is another scary one to watch out for.
Fun for five minutes in the company of friends, 18+!
I have been on this site a couple times but only under the following condition: In a room with several of my friends with a good mix of guys and girls. Visiting this website with other people can make it a funny experience. I can even note one time when by some 1/20000th chance we landed on a friend of ours at the same college in another dorm. That being said, I would NEVER visit this website alone. Being alone really adds to the creep factor and emphasizes the fact that, as Common Sense says, everything is done in real time. People have been known to take screen captures (taking pictures of the screen) unbeknownst to the other user. And these a literally strangers. It's taking anonymous chat room surfing to a new level. And then there are the male genitalia... from what my friends and I have seen, males far outweigh females on this site. It is not an exaggeration to say that everything 5th person comes to a close-up webcam view of a man pleasuring himself. And there is a report button, but the damage has been done by that point. All in all, from what I understand, the Russian creator of the site had very innocent intentions, and his idea was really cute. But unfortunately, as things on the internet tend to do, it has taken a very nasty turn.
this website is terrible in terms of concealing identity, safety, and exposes young kids to things they don't need to see at their age.
Since you don't have to sign up for the website, just click a button saying you're 16+, anyone and everyone can use this, and 9 times out of 10, you see inappropriate things on other people's web cams.
traumatic potential for any age ~ NOT FOR CHILDREN
This is exactly what we need to protect our children's innocence against.
The potential traumatic impact is tremendous. Anyone can be showing anything at any time... and with 1 click your child can be seeing that....
This site is going on my absolutely blocked blacklist
Nothing good, Do not let your kids on, If you do, Your kids will probably be seeing Sex, Cursing, And fake terrorism and inappropriate stuff, Maybe for 25+ year olds But NO NO NO NO NO for kids!
I heard about this website through the news and checked it out...Any parent reading this you should not let any children on here. It says 16 and above but there are many guys on here that are full nude and masterbating. I have seen kids on here as well and it needs to be restricted. Watch out!!!! Thanks for reading this.
A agree 100% with everything CSM has stated in their review. This site is very dangerous for adults, and especially for kids and teenagers with a curious instinct. But there is something I want to add. It is true that women get targeted on this site a LOT, but I spent a good 2-3 hours on the site, and I must have got told over 40 times, "show me your d*ck", or "I wanna see how big you are, strip". Which is very unsettling since i'm married and have a son. And at least half the people I talked to were minors, which is very shocking for me, due to the fact that I could be charged for pedophillia if it were to be video taped. So this site is one I would never recommend to anyone under any circumstances.
I went on Chatroulette to review it for my blog - and saw the Jonas Brothers! If I were a 13 year old girl, I would think "what my luck!" and stop to chat. Users of the site have done screenshares to project video content - another one of my strangers was sharing adult material via screenshare - and it's entirely possible that someone might project recorded content to get a young person's attention and engage them in chat. On the plus side, hitting "next" magically takes the stranger away and there is no trail back to either user.
Well not chatroulette but this copy: demo.videosoftware.pro/svc/layouts/crc/VideoChat.html
could be used for kids to draw to each other or their parents etc...
As an 18 year old that has grown up in the age of the internet, I have to say that this site is a definite no for kids under the age of 16. There's a fair chance of stumbling onto some pretty inappropriate stuff. However, a responsible 16 year old should know what to look out for and avoid and is unlikely to find anything that they haven't already been exposed to in school. The website isn't ALL bad and sometimes you can find some wholesome/non-dodgy entertainment.
The most important thing about any child using the internet is that they know how to recognise things that aren't right and that they can tell you when something makes them uncomfortable and of course it's important to monitor their activity (without necessarily invading their privacy in the cases of 15+'s).
