What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this site is a mom-owned business inspired by a daughter's love of fashion. The idea is to encourage girls to be creative and design their own outfits, which is fun and easy to do. But while mixing and matching is free, to actually get the clothes, girls must persuade their parents to buy each piece for about $20 to $30.

Educational value: Girls who are interested in design and fashion will see how their choice of pattern, colors, and trim results in a finished product that they can wear -- if a parent buys it, that is.
Positive messages: Since many girls create outfits for their avatars online for free, it may be an unpleasant surprise to learn that if they actually want to wear their outfits in real life, an adult will have to purchase them.
Violence: Not applicable.
Sex: Not applicable.
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Clothing items in girls' sizes 6 to 14 cost about $20 to $30 each.
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about the difference between a Web site for play and one for purchase. This site may blur the line between creativity and commerce a bit too much for girls on the younger end of its target audience to distinguish. Kids: Can you create something here and have fun without buying anything? Why or why not?

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Depending upon whether your kid will be content to play on this site without buying anything -- or on whether you're willing to purchase what she creates -- this site could be fun ... or it could be a fight waiting to happen.

That said, the steps to choose and customize the clothing items are very basic and require little reading. Most 6-year-olds will be able to navigate through them with basic word recognition if they've used other dress-up Web sites. All of the clothes sold on the site is made in the U.S.A. from 100 percent cotton or a cotton blend.

Looks fun for those who love fashion.
I checked out this site. The designs are all very simple, but I'm sure lots of little girls would love it. The one negative thing - they'll be begging you to buy the shirt they designed.
