common sense media says

Cartoon hub is drenched in downloads.

parents & educators say

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this site doesn't have much more to offer than things you can download, things you can buy, and things you can play. Banner ads abound, and kids must watch an ad before playing a game. Kids can click on Warner Bros. Studios' discrete menu bar on the top of the home page and have access to movies, TV shows, and videos that might be inappropriate for them to see. In terms of violence, there's a requisite amount of old-fashioned cartoon violence in the video clips in the "Saturday Morning Forever" section.

Educational value: Some of the games teach kids to sort, count, and use hand-eye coordination.
Positive messages: Some of the classic cartoons use stereotypes.
Violence: Cartoon-style violence where characters are hit over the head with heavy objects and are unhurt.
Sex: Not applicable.
Language: Not applicable.
Consumerism: Ads, ring tones, screensavers, and more -- oh my!
Drinking, drugs, & smoking: Not applicable.

What to talk about

Talk to your kids
Families can talk about the historical references in some of the cartoons such as The Flintstones and The Jetsons. What was it like when dinosaurs roamed the earth? If you had to go back to the Stone Age, what's one thing you couldn't live without? Do you think we'll ever drive flying cars?

Is it any good?

Is it any good?

Hanna-Barbera.com is a trip down memory lane for those who grew up watching the Saturday morning favorites, and it caters to the new generation with an endless supply of downloads for your computer and cell phone. The games, e-cards, polls, quizzes, and offerings to download everything from screensavers to buddy icons border on sensory overload, and it may take a few visits to the site before kids uncover some of the hidden treasures.

It's important to note that many of these downloads are found on vendor sites that aren't affiliated with Hanna-Barbera and must be purchased.
