Used to love it, hate it now.
Last post messed up somehow..... Ok. Been playing the game since 2005, and it used to be a fun educational game. Now, if you don't wanna spend your hard earned paycheck, it's so extremely hard to advance in the game, it's ridiculous. Also, the moderators do not do their jobs. I messaged them on several occasions about broken rules, and I never even got a thank you response or even acknowledge they revived it. The game is full of bullies. I have recently quit t play other sim games. Want a better alternative for a younger player? Equiscape.net, and ponybox* are great!

Player For Two Years, and Not Much Problems Emerged.
Well, I understand first off, that since HL is a free play site with no ultimate goal, there are more freedoms. (By the way, this is for HL World.) There is a small problem with commercialism, but no one ever pays attention to it. At least, I don't. As for 'slaughtering' your horses, that's rubish. It is kind of annoying when people pop up on the talk board saying 'Oh! If you don't buy the horses (at rocket high prices) there going to die!' You can not kill a horse on HL. I've seen horses that are 354 years-old. They do not die unless you click the 'retire' button when they turn twenty-one. There is one problem. If you click the retire button, the lines on that horses desendants have a blank id. That is called 'broken lines' and litteraly ruins the horses value. I think that HL should allow horses to die at a normal age and still be able to keep the lines regular. There are over one million horses on horseland, and if you never retire them, that number increases. It's slowing HL down and causing glitches along with the JR. Game. Cursing is slightly rampant throughout the game, but can be avoided. Slaughter houses can be avoided, rude players can be avoided, bad trainers/stables can be avoided. There are dangers to playing horseland, but if you're carefull, and watch out, it's great! I've played for 2 years now, and only about 10 things have occured. All were easily fixed! GREAT GAME!

I recommend it, but WATCH OUT!
I have been playing hl(horseland) for about six years now(i know, i know) and in my many years of experiance, I would definatly reccomend this game, but WARNING: watch out! There are so many bad things about this game. For one thing, about 75% of the people on there don't care about you, your feelings, or your account. It is a good preparation for teens entering the real world because all the players want and care about is one thing: $money. When you first start out, be especially cautious. People see you are a 'newbie' and will scam you and take your money/horses. Also, do not even attmept to play this game if you know nothing about html. Don't worry you over-protective parents, there is not a big problem with sex. On occasion, advertisements will pop up on one of the chat rooms. (advertisements are posted by fellow members) Also- and some may disagree- violence is not a huge problem either. It is impossible to slaughter horses on this game, though some players like to make-believe it. One thing I would worry about though, is the language and attitute most players have (towards you). Drugs, alcohol, and commercialism is not a problem I would loose sleep over. On the other hand, the social behavior of the fellow players is extremely hostile, and though the educational value is extremely high, I would leave you with this warning: watch out! (if you need any help in the game, I run an Endurance Riding Club, and you can contact me from there) Have Fun!

Enjoyable, Educational, and [mostly] safe.
I have been playing Horseland for eight years, since I was 8 years old. Back then, they did not have the "junior player" option, so I was on horseland world. I was able to fully interact with other players, and I never had any problems. Horseland is a money and point driven game, and some parents may look down on that. Although there is no "goal" to reach to "beat" the game, many players strive to have the best (aka highest pointed) horses of their breed and very high player points (which are obtained through training of horses). Horseland does teach important things, such as money management. Junior & Basic accounts receive a meager allowance each week and must learn how to manage it correctly, or supplement it, such as by training and selling horses. It is very unlikely that your child will encounter any unsolicited attention if they abide by the rules of horseland, although some players choose to harass new players or those who do not follow common practices. If your child tells you this has happened to him or her, you should email help@horseland* with a copy of the harassment including the offending player's ID number. Overall, horseland can provide a freedom of game that many kids will enjoy, but others may not understand the "free play" atmosphere and may become bored. To be successful your child should understand the concepts of boarding, feeding, and shoeing their horses, as well as training them. Some assistance from a parent would likely be helpful for younger children, but once they understand the basics they are sure to enjoy the game immensely!

love it
Well Horseland is mostly girls ages 10-15 playing. I love horseland my self, but the site does have some issues. there are "slaughter Houses" and "Bad" accounts. I myself ignore these accounts, but they can find you. I would not put a 5 year old on this site for it has some bad people. Hope this is helpful!

A Great Site For Ages 7+!
I've been paying HL (Horseland) for about 2-3 years now, and I LOVE it! There's two games you can play, Jr. and World. I personally play HL world because I'm above 13 years of age, but the Jr. game can be fun too! In HL world, there's two types of players, Basic and Premium. There are the premium players, which you have to pay to be a premi, only $30 per year! Premium players are offered much more. You get $200,000 per week, and basic player only get $10,000. Most premium players you meet have millions of dollars, and you can also run shows and much more. Graphics makers make even more on HL, and can charge up to $30mill for pictures and layouts. Although the 'newbies' as some call them arien't treated too nicely, some people (like me) on HL like to help them out. HL runs by points, the more points your horses and dong have, the more value he has. Some clubs on HL are there for the sole purpose of helping newbies. But the glitches on HL can be frustrating. Right now, there's a bidding glitch, where no one can bid on horses. There are a lot of problems because the Jr. game is run by Shockwave player. All the players also have there own identities, or player numbers, IDs.

Beware of the trolls
I used to play this game but the number of players that cheat, cuss, steal was becoming greater by day. Also the glitches are never fixed! I have found a much better horse game, that is completely free and does not require players to buy premium accounts. On top of that it has many, many features and the game is way safer than HL.

NOT safe for all ages, despite advertising claims
As a parent and long-time player, I urge you to keep your kids away. There is rampant sexual discussions daily, inappropriate language and topics, and too many unsupervised children bullying the new and younger players. It wasn't always this bad, but it is deplorable now. Support staff is almost non-existant, and come across as if they don't care as long as they get money.

Not for younger players
When you get past the many technical glitches and the poor customer service, this game is great and addicting. Unfortunately, due lack of moderation, the game has become R-rated. Disrespectful (pre)teens swear, cyber, and scam without worry of reprocussion. HL has been notified on several occassions, and have screen shots of the offending materials, but have chosen to do nothing.
