When I first visited this website I thought about what child would truly enjoy it? Afterwards I’m now left with this, what parent wouldn’t enjoy their kids on this site? PBS Kids offers a great place for kids to visit, learn and have fun. It requires that children be able to read, but the site is very easy to navigate and parents can help all of those early readers. The site is full of activities, most that involve some of the children’s favorite PBS TV show characters, which can teach kids valuable information in fun and creative ways.
In the section titled “Don’t Buy Itâ€Â, the site explains to kids how advertisements can be misleading and encourages smart ways to spend money. Lessons that are incredibly valuable for children to learn at an early age. There is another section titled “Eeko World†which teaches children important things about the environment, recycling and how kids can do their part to help in the future. This section also lets you build your own Eeko creature which you can piece together using different animal parts and can provide some pretty entertaining combinations.
This site also has parent and teacher links to those sections of their website, which can be very beneficial in helping parents communicate well with their children and help them in developing early math and reading skills. The only outside links are for TV schedules so children will know when they can watch their favorite PBS shows.
I feel that this is a magnificent website for kids and would strongly recommend it to parents and teachers for educational use while keeping the children very entertained. Overall, I give this site an A grade because it does everything you can ask for in terms of providing children with useful and valuable information in a plethora of different areas while also entertaining them to keep them coming back for more.
