Why We Rated This on for Ages 7 and Up

The good stuff

  • Educational value:

If your child is a cartoon fanatic who is interested in the behind-the-scenes goings on, then reading the site's SpongeBob Crew Blog could be educational. Otherwise, the games and shows are purely entertainment.

What to watch out for

  • Messages:

Blockhead that he is, SpongeBob may not be universally considered to be a positive role model for kids, and a lot of the humor in the videos is pure slapstick. But overall, nothing seriously disturbing related to social behavior.
  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

No "official" swearing. Some verbal sparring, mild name calling and self-deprecating comments that many parents may not want their younger kids repeating.
  • Consumerism:

Banner and video ads for everything from Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, video games, pancake syrup and, of course, Nickelodeon. There's also a SpongeBob shop.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the difference between cartoon humor and real-life behavior (especially with younger fans). Why are SpongeBob characters so funny but if you did or said some of the same things they do, you might get into trouble or be perceived as annoying by friends? Talk about the over-the-top characters on this show and site, and why you can enjoy laughing at them without emulating them.

A Fun Website for Spongebob Fans

I love Spongebob, and this website is awesome. It has all of the games, videos, and character stuff that's VERY fun for Spongebob fans. It's URL is easy to access (www.spongebob.com) so that young children can get on and have fun. You have to sign up for an account to post comments and NONE are offensive or disrespectful in any way. The only fault is ADs for other games or other Nickelodeon Stuff, which you would expect. I love this website and go on to play games and watch videos daily.

Great Site for Anyone Who is Bored!

I love this website! It is easy to use! You can watch the shows, play the games (my favorite), read a creators blog, and more! This is a personal favorite. Some of the games help your mind progress (strategy) and others are just good for passing time! The games and shows are great fun for lots of ages! The only thing I dislike is all the advertisement. Still, my opinion is positive for this one!
