What parents need to know

Parents need to know that membership to this online TV network of sorts is by referral only -- girls must be invited by a friend who's already a member, who then receives 250 points for every friend who joins -- and the site requires an annual paid subscription ($30). The site does cover some mature topics such as drugs, but the videos are safe and there's a filter to catch inappropriate posts from users. Also, the goal is all about information and promoting all things positive: good health, self-esteem, managing money wisely, and the arts.

  • Not applicable.
  • There's an annual paid subscription ($30). DayZLoop.com also gives users points that can win them DayZLoop merch.
  • The site's information makes it clear that drugs are bad.

What's it about?

DAYZLOOP.COM has a positive premise -- empower girls with teen-hosted videos on topics ranging from DIY craft projects to yoga breathing. The site has six channels based on subject matter like finance, art, and society; each channel houses informative articles and videos on topics like eating disorders and the dangers of doing drugs. And then there's the fun stuff: Users can upload a photo (that is screened) or create an avatar for their DayZLoop.com persona, which will appear in the site's member profile section, along with girls' picks for favorite song, shoes, and more. DayZLoop.com also gives users points, which can win you DayZLoop merch or the chance to appear in one of the site's videos.

Is it any good?

DayZLoop.com is fun; however, it's unclear if the site has fully encouraged its members to use it as their life portal. Some message boards haven't been posted to in over a year, and the blog -- written by one of the frequent video teen hosts -- hasn't been updated in months.

What families can talk about

Families can talk about empowering girls. How can you build self-esteem? How can you become a more well-rounded person? What are the benefits of exercise besides strong muscles? Families can also discuss product-based referrals and what it means to ask friends to subscribe to an online service. Why isn't this site open to anyone?
