How do I apply for a job?

All positions are posted on this website. Please click the job title to see full job description for that position. Please submit applications by sending your resume and cover letter to and putting the position you're applying for in the subject line.

What is the process after an application is submitted?

Applications are collected in the jobs inbox – please note we cannot respond to every application.

  1. Our HR team reviews applications to identify qualified candidates.
  2. Qualified candidates are invited to do a telephone screening.
  3. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person interview. Common Sense typically conducts 2 to 3 rounds of in-person interviews in the hiring process.
  4. References will be solicited from our final candidates. (Please note that some positions will require additional background checks.)
  5. A formal written job offer will be made to our top final candidate.

Senior Director, Marketing

We are seeking a champion for the brand and responsible for growing awareness and engagement across platforms and partnerships.  The Senior Director, Marketing will work closely with cross-functional teams and agency resources to define and execute our brand strategy, marketing programs, and campaigns.

Vice President, Communications

We are looking for a talented leader to be our Vice President, Communications.  Reporting to the CEO and serving as an integral member of the executive team, the Vice President (VP), Communications will develop a world-class communications plan for Common Sense Media, directly managing communications activities that promote, enhance, and protect the organization's brand and reputation.  The VP, Communications will be responsible for the development, integration, and implementation of a broad range of public relations activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership. The goal is to advance the organization's position with relevant constituents, as well as to drive broader awareness and donor support for the organization.

New York Regional Director

Common Sense Media is seeking a dynamic, results-driven person to lead its New York Office. The New York Regional Director is responsible for driving a comprehensive effort to build Common Sense Media’s presence, philanthropic base and strategic partnerships in the New York Metropolitan Area. The New York Regional Director is a frontline fundraiser who cultivates, solicits, and manages high profile relationships with local foundations, major donors, civic, business, and community partners. 

Director of Education Business Development

We are seeking an experienced, talented and dynamic Director of Education Business Development to drive new business opportunities in the education space, forging partnerships with enterprise in order to broaden our distribution footprint in schools and generate substantial revenue for the organization. The ideal candidate for this position will have deep experience in education-related business development, strategic and creative thinking skills, a collaborative work style and a strong track record of prospecting and closing new business.

Partnerships Coordinator

We are seeking a Partnerships Coordinator that will work closely with the business development team to support a growing portfolio of partners, requiring a broad range of partnership management duties. 

Director of Finance and Administration/Controller

We are looking for a Director of Finance and Administration who is a CPA with deep nonprofit accounting experience and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in public accounting, preferably servicing a mix of for profit and nonprofit clients. 

Communications Manager

We are seeking a talented Communications Manager to help strategize, execute, and support Common Sense's media relations campaigns across the organization's consumer, education, and research efforts.  Externally, the Manager works closely with reporters, editors, producers, conference organizers and others, to secure positive media coverage and external promotion of Common Sense and its mission..  

Manager, Education Retention & Engagement

We are seeking an innovative and digitally savvy marketing professional to join the Common Sense Education marketing team. The Manager, Education Retention and Engagement will manage Common Sense Education’s growing member community of 92,000 teachers in order to deepen their usage of and engagement with our resources. This individual will also be responsible for driving user-generated content on Common Sense Graphite. This position is based in San Francisco. 

San Francisco Project Coordinator

We are currently seeking a part-time San Francisco Education Project Coordinator to manage our strategic partnership with the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD). The primary responsibilities of the Project Coordinator are to provide professional development to SFUSD educators on Common Sense Education tools, model parent resources, and evaluate the impact of programming.

Visual Designer

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic and mid-level designer who can work autonomously as well as collaborate effectively with our design, UX, product and engineering teams. The Visual Designer will create visual designs and interaction experiences for Common Sense’s responsive websites, mobile and TV apps, and other digital platforms to address business, brand, market, and user requirements.

Executive Assistant

Common Sense is seeking a top-level Executive Assistant skilled at communicating with senior executives, funders, and various other high-profile persons to support our President/Chief Operating Officer. The ideal candidate will possess excellent people skills, superior writing and computer skills, the ability to work both collaboratively and independently, and the ability to multitask seamlessly.

Events & Administrative Coordinator

Common Sense is seeking an Events and Administrative Coordinator for the Bay Area. Reporting to the Vice President for California Policy and the National Advocacy Director, the Events and Administrative Coordinator will assist with planning and hosting events and provide administrative support for the two principals in the San Francisco office. 

Digital Campaign Coordinator

We are looking for a talented Digital Campaign Coordinator to develop the content for a robust digital communications campaign. S/he will also manage the communications schedule and ensure cross-departmental functionality. The position will work under the direction of the National Advocacy Director for Common Sense.
