What is the process after an application is submitted?

Please note we cannot respond to every application.

  1. Our HR team reviews applications to identify qualified candidates.
  2. Qualified candidates are invited to do a telephone screening.
  3. The most qualified candidates will be invited to an in-person interview. Common Sense typically conducts 2 to 3 rounds of in-person interviews in the hiring process.
  4. References will be solicited from our final candidates. (Please note that some positions will require additional background checks.)
  5. A formal written job offer will be made to our top final candidate.

Director of Finance/Controller - San Francisco, Ca. 

We are looking for a director of finance/controller with deep nonprofit accounting and management experience to lead our organization's accounting function. You have eight years of directly related work experience in accounting, preferably servicing a mix of for-profit and nonprofit organizations. You will work with the executive team and with all directors and managers throughout all departments in the organization. The position requires a balance of excellent mentorship and management.

Media Reviewer- San Francisco, Ca. (remote available)

The equity-focused media reviewer will use their subject-matter expertise to consume, evaluate, and write about entertainment content for parents through a child-development and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) lens. With excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, this contract role will produce anywhere from one to 10 new reviews per month, with a special focus on a specific kind of media (books, movies, TV shows, apps, video games). Work may also include updates to older reviews. We are committed to hiring reviewers from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.

Senior Manager, Business Development - San Francisco, Ca. 

We are looking for a senior manager, business development, to manage a subset of our revenue-generating partners. This candidate will have experience with building relationships and managing complex projects with many moving parts, a knowledge of the media and tech landscape, some technical knowledge, creative thinking skills, and a collaborative work style. The senior manager, business development, will continuously seek to leverage Common Sense expertise and resources to create meaningful in-platform experiences that drive tangible value to partners and help them realize the value of partnering with Common Sense.
