SAN FRANCISCO, May 10, 2019 — The following statement was released by Common Sense founder and CEO James Steyer today in reaction to the release of California Governor Gavin Newsom's revised 2019–2020 state budget:
"The governor's budget makes it crystal clear that he wants California to be a better and more affordable place to raise families. From child care and paid family leave to early childhood education and health screenings for kids, Governor Newsom is making kids and families a top priority in the Golden State. Common Sense has long advocated for California to fundamentally change its approach to child well-being by embracing a broader societal commitment and creating long-term revenue streams that ensure healthy, robust futures for all our families. We believe that under the leadership of Governor Newsom, we have a real opportunity to make that a reality."
