The following statement was released by Common Sense founder and CEO James Steyer in reaction to Governor Gavin Newsom signing the 2019–2020 state budget:
"Common Sense applauds Governor Newsom for coming out with a 'for kids' budget. The governor made good on his commitment to making California better and more affordable for kids and families. By expanding earned income tax credits for working families, early childhood programs, and paid family leave, the governor has demonstrated he is serious about making California more family-friendly. Governor Newsom has a long history of fighting for kids and families, and we are optimistic that under his leadership, California will prioritize kids and ensure that every family has the support and services they need to live a quality life in the Golden State."
