Creative spin on brick-breaker games requires fast reflexes.

What parents need to know

Ease of play

This game uses one of the most long-running gameplay mechanics -- hitting a ball around a game board. The goal here is for the ball to hit various objects and obstacles to make them disappear. The concept is simple and accessible, but players need to have lightning fast reflexes in order to keep the ball bouncing around without losing it. Players can use the touchscreen or tilt.

Violence & scariness

All of the levels involve blasting a ball into various objects, sometimes with the help of bullets -- some of the bonuses are weapons, including a machine gun.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Anodia is a casual, arcade-style game in which players maneuver a paddle along the bottom of the screen in order to knock a ball around a game board. The ball needs to hit various objects within the board for players to move to the next level. As the objects become more varied in size, shape, and placement, it becomes exceedingly difficult. In addition, players need to have strong hand-eye coordination in order to keep hitting the ball with the paddle to avoid losing the ball. It is a game of pure reflex and skill. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.

Is it any good?

The gameplay concept behind ANODIA is nothing new. In fact, this style of game has been around for decades. However, what is different about this game is the creative spin on the genre. Traditional games of this style require players to hit a group of blocks or bricks. Here, though, the bricks are replaced with all manner of items ranging from stars to construction beams to rubber ducks. This variety gives the game a wholly unique feel and makes each level feel like a new experience.
