What's it about?

Kids choose from 10 wild animal pictures to begin an "Animal School Day." Characters guide them through four learning games, each customized for the animal they chose. Kids learn about a feature of the animal, and then play a sorting game to identify that feature. They spin a wheel to learn what the animal eats. They drive a car to return a baby animal to its habitat. A few just-for-fun features include the "Lunch Time" game and a sticker page. From the menu, kids can also navigate to a particular game instead of the "Animal School Day" set.

Is it any good?

BUBBLE GUPPIES: ANIMAL SCHOOL DAY is a sweet educational app with cute characters, kid-friendly humor, and lots of learning fun for little ones. The audio prompts and cues from Mr. Grouper and the gang will keep kids from feeling lost or frustrated as they sort, feed, and help the animals. The jokes and sticker page add some just-for-fun entertainment. And with four games for each animal, it will likely take kids many sessions to work through all the "School Day" lessons. Bubble Guppies: Animal School Day has great educational and entertainment value.

Talk to your kids about ...

  • On your next zoo trip, ask your kids to point out characteristics of the animals. See if they can identify similarities and differences between animals. If you don't live near a zoo, try a pet store.

  • Help preschoolers practice sorting objects. When possible, making sorting purposeful -- they can sort laundry by color, for example.
