Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Count TV is a cute counting app from Sesame Street, hosted by the vampiric muppet, Count von Count. He presents kids with a remote control, which they use to press any number from 1 to 9 to watch an interactive Sesame Street video clip.
What's it about?
COUNT TV combines classic Sesame Street number-of-the-day skits and some point-and-count interaction. The Count (Ha-Ha-Ha!) holds out a control pad of numbers from 1 to 9 so kids can choose a number. They then watch a little skit or song that incorporates that number and interact in some way to point and count objects.
Is it any good?
Count TV makes excellent use of classic video clips from the Sesame Street TV show. Parents will probably recognize several of the clips, which include great sketches like "Monsterpiece Theater." During each clip, there's a point (or possibly several) during which the action freezes and the Count instructs kids to count the items on the screen. The clips themselves are worth the price of admission; the interactive counting just adds to the value.
Families can talk about...
The songs will stick in parents' heads, so take advantage of that and sing them with your kids -- even when they aren't playing the app.
Incorporate the lovable Count into your kid's play and count everything, just like he does.
