The graphics are top-notch, and kids are smoothly guided through the game's steps, which helps provide an enjoyable experience. Disney Mirrorverse's well-organized navigation includes a map that outlines upcoming challenges, so there's little confusion about what to do. Kids don't really need to master the more complex aspects of the game, such as the role -- Melee, Tank, Ranged, or Support -- each Guardian plays. Similarly, the app's currency system also contains several components, but kids should be able to successfully play the game, even if they aren't quite sure how they all differ.

The battles are the high point -- along with ample action, some involve more than one Guardian. The brief story-related scenes tend to move a bit slowly, and kids may skip them because the dialogue doesn't always advance the plot. In fights, characters emerge from a swirling portal and lightning sizzles as they attack. Kids can move their character away or toward the action using the circular control on the screen, if the character is losing energy or is ready to deliver a blow. You typically don't need to move around constantly, though, so kids don't have to keep both hands on the screen. While the strategy isn't too in-depth, kids will get to choose when to strike and use the characters' special moves sparingly, offering some opportunities to utilize logic and other skills. They can also level characters up and decide which would be best for each battle sequence, based on their abilities. The design is consistently stunning -- one character floats above the ground, the perspective shifts to convey a sense of drama, and villains crumble into dozens of pieces upon defeat. Between the impressive visuals and the chance to cultivate a team of popular characters from animated films, there's lots to look at and enjoy during a visit to the Disney Mirrorverse.
