Kids can learn to express themselves artistically and understand the basics of 2-D and 3-D. They'll also explore and experiment with textures and different artistic tools in the extensive artist's palette. They'll learn about different tools in a doctor's office, such as the scale, blood-pressure cuff, exam table, and eye chart, as well as develop compassion as they treat Doc's toy patients, Lambie and Marvin. Preschool art has no rules, and kids can explore and create without making a mess with Doc McStuffins Paint and Play.

What's it about?

Kids use a variety of creative artistic tools to decorate every single item in Doc McStuffins' checkup room. They'll color the floor, ceiling, walls, exam table, medical equipment, bookshelves, pictures on the wall, even Doc and Lambie, and more -- and use the magic wand to turn everything into 3-D and then see it placed in the checkup room. Kids work with a full color palette and tools such as markers, crayons, paintbrushes, glitter, patterns, stickers, and craft supplies to decorate everything in the room. They'll also doctor the toys.

Is it any good?

QUALITY

In the same format as the popular Mickey Mouse Paint and Play, kids decorate the checkup room for Doc McStuffins. The same voice talent and animation kids love from the show walk kids through the room. The graphics are wow-worthy, and the 3-D animation of the objects is quite forgiving -- even scribbles look fabulous when the objects are placed in the room. Kids' creative options are pretty limitless with the 18 colors and 21 tools plus a camera tool that kids can use to take pictures of other textures to use. The camera function is off-center, making it pretty tricky for kids to capture the object they want. The magic paintbrush perfectly paints each piece as it would appear in the show, which may hinder some kids' creativity when they discover it. The 28 items to paint and place (and redo as often as they want) will keep kids entertained for hours. Kids will be delighted to discover that they can help Doc doctor Lambie and Marvin, the toys in the room, as well.

Families can talk about...

  • Pull out some beloved stuffed animals to play doctor, just like Doc McStuffins does.

  • Encourage kids to take creative risks by letting them play with a variety of arts and crafts, including basics such as paint and crayons and glitter along with some nontraditional textures and materials such as fabric, leaves, and aluminum foil.
