Easy Studio - Introduction to Animation
What parents need to know
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Easy Studio - Introduction to Animation is a beginning animation app based entirely on creating moving scenes with colorful shapes. A fun tutorial and Easy Mode-level lessons empower even young kids to use fill-in images to create simple animated scenes in only a few minutes. They can even add a soundtrack, which requires access to the microphone. In-app language settings allow parents to set all the text and instructions in many languages including English, Arabic, Chinese, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Spanish, and more.
What's it about?
EASY STUDIO - INTRODUCTION TO ANIMATION offers both an Easy Mode and an Expert Mode. In Easy Mode, a tutorial demonstrates how to move shapes, take photos, and move shapes again to create an animation. Five more lessons help kids learn basic techniques by creating an animated accordion, a train, an airplane, and more. Expert Mode provides all the same shapes and tools with no creative direction; kids simply press Play or tap into the Library to watch saved animations. In the Library, kids can edit animations or add an audio track in the form of their own recorded voice or pre-recorded silly noises and musical notes.
Is it any good?
This excellent early introduction to animation makes the process seem simple as kids learn how shapes interact to create objects and designs. After completing the initial tutorial and five preplanned lessons, kids will have all the skills they need to jump into Expert Mode. Watching saved animations is as easy as pressing Play. Settings include languages, the speed of images per second, the use of shadows, and enabled or disabled Internet links. Once they have the hang of it, kids are empowered to let their imaginations take over, though they'll eventually find limitations in the types of objects they can create.
Families can talk about...
Families can talk about learning new skills. For maximum success and minimum frustration, encourage kids to start with the tutorial and go through each lesson in Easy Mode before moving to Expert Mode.
Talk about finding new ways to apply what kids have learned. Once they've mastered creating with Easy Studio, encourage them to use real-world objects in stop-motion animation. Apps such as Animate It! can help.
