Fun visualization of a game from Wreck-It Ralph.

What parents need to know

Educational value

Fix-It Felix Jr. wasn't created with educational intent, and we don't recommend it for learning.

Ease of play

The game uses very familiar controls. Anyone who has played an old-school arcade game should be right at home.

Violence & scariness

Ralph throws bricks at Felix as the hero tries to fix broken windows. When he's hit, he blinks out of existence, and when Felix is out of lives, he lies prone with a flower and funeral dirge plays.

The app is a tie-in to (and marketing vehicle for) the Disney's Wreck-It Ralph movie, featuring prominent characters. Kids will likely ask to see the film after playing. The app also upsells a paid version of games from the film and has banner ads.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Fix-It Felix Jr. is a real-world visualization of the game featured in the Wreck-It Ralph movie. The game is not notably violent, though Ralph does throw bricks at Felix as he tries to fix the windows Ralph has wrecked. The game is a pure marketing vehicle for the film, though, so kids will likely ask to see it after playing.

What's it about?

In this real-world visualization of the game featured in the Wreck-It Ralph movie, players use virtual stick and button controls to "repair" the damage done by Ralph to a building, while dodging bricks tossed at them and flying ducks. Kids can complete 10 levels with the free app; if they purchase the Wreck-It Ralph app, they'll get access to additional levels.

Is it any good?

Fix-It Felix Jr. might be a tie-in to a film, but as a game, it's simple, lighthearted, and utterly adorable in an 8-bit retro way -- although we hate that it lacks Ralph's signature "I'm Gonna Wreck It!" tagline from the film. The game harkens back to the 1980s arcade era with simplistic gameplay that's still quite addictive.

Is it deep? No. Challenging? Not especially. But fun? Without a doubt.

Fun Movie Tie-in game

After watching Wreck-It-Ralph, I decided to get this game. It's pretty fun. The graphics are great (it looks just like a classic 8-bit game). There is some violence; Ralph wrecks the windows of an apartment and drops bricks to the floor for Felix to get hit by. Felix can also die, but it's not graphic. Also, there's obvious product placement for "Wreck-It Ralph" and they encourage you to buy the full version of the game (which includes other minigames) but you don't have to buy it.
What other families should know
