Flashcards Maker Pro
What parents need to know
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Flashcards Maker Pro is going to require quite a bit of setup work for them upfront. They'll have to personally create the flashcards they want their kids to review. Still, the possibilities are endless, as parents can create different decks for whatever topics they want to cover with any kid of any age.
What's it about?
Instead of writing on 3x5 cards, parents or older kids can create their own flashcards to review on their Android devices. Kids swipe through the cards or scroll down to see the answers, and they can tap to hear words read aloud, even in other languages. Create cards and decks in the editor mode, and review them in the player mode. The number of cards and decks that can be created is unlimited, so this is an app that could be used for many years by many people for many subject areas.
Is it any good?
Creating the flashcards is simple but requires some effort upfront, just as creating paper flashcards would. FLASHCARDS MAKER PRO does have text-to-speech capabilities, so it also reads the text of the card -- both question and answer aloud. It can read words in other languages, with accents, too, though the voices are pretty robotic sounding. Kids can swipe to change cards or tap to hear the words read. Shaking the device hides that card from the deck, but the shaking sensor is pretty sensitive. There's no graphics capability, so kids can only review words, and it's not the most exciting way to review information.
Families can talk about...
Parents can create cards for younger kids for any memorization content area. Experiment with traditional flashcards to see if they work for your kid's learning style.
Parents can encourage older kids to create their own flashcards. The process of creating the cards will help in the memorization of the information.
