What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Get Outta My Galaxy! HD is an arcade game that positions the player as a xenophobic, slap-happy alien who's determined to rid his world of newcomers. The antihero "Waka" does this by slapping the visiting "wikus" when they get in range. Powerups let him grow much taller or whirl like a tornado. While this sounds overly violent, it's done in cartoon fashion, rather than pure mean-spiritedness. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional.

Is it any good?

GET OUTTA MY GALAXY! is a game that certainly earns points for style. It's beautiful and, once you progress past the early overly simplistic levels, it's laid out extremely well. Ultimately, though, it's a game that tends to be a bit repetitive. (Occasionally sluggish controls work against it as well.) Still, there's an undeniable fun factor that comes with being a grumpy protagonist who wallops perky aliens, and the short levels make it a great choice for when you only have a few minutes to play.
