If you have kids who like dinosaurs, IT'S TYRANNOSAURUS REX - SMITHSONIAN'S PREHISTORIC PALS is worth checking out. It's a digital book about T. Rex that they can read themselves or have read to them. The first part of the book is a story about a T. Rex in search of food, and she encounters various other dinosaurs like a Triceratops or an Ankylosaurus. The second portion presents some essential facts and figures about the T. Rex. When the "Read to Me" or "Auto Play" options are chosen, there are sound effects to go along with the narration, helping to bring the story to life. The book is not animated, but uses pan-and-zoom to display different portions of the pictures as the story is read.

The illustrations and story are excellent, if a bit short. That's the only downside to this app -- it will leave your dino-loving child hungry for more.
