What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Jewel Quest Mysteries: Curse of the Emerald Tear contains a textual story that is atmospherically creepy and contains the death of a character. That story however, doesn't really impact the game's puzzles. It is simply a framing device to tie the hidden-object and match-three puzzles together.

Is It Any Good?
JEWEL QUEST MYSTERIES: CURSE OF THE CRYSTAL TEARis a unique combination of hidden object puzzles and match-three block puzzles. Framed by an adventure story about explorerers seeking a mystical artifact (a staple of the Jewel Quest series), you'll alternate between searching complicated scenes for hidden images and sliding jewel blocks around on a board in order to line up and eliminate groups of three or more. Those match-three puzzles are what the Jewel Quest series has done well for several incarnations already, but the hidden object puzzles are done pretty well too. And the two are tied together nicely by a feature that allows you to find coins in one puzzle that will help you in the other. For puzzle game lovers, this can be the best of both worlds.
