A lot or a little?

The parents' guide to what's in this app.

Educational Value

Kids can learn art and science concepts and develop their imaginations through the shows featured. Each one offers unique content and themes, so check out Common Sense's reviews to see which concepts may be covered. The shows on Kabillion - New and classic animated TV shows are intended to be more for entertainment than education; still, kids can learn social skills and develop verbal skills while watching, and they may develop special interests too.

Ease of Play

Kids choose a show from a spinning picture wheel, then select the episode. Large pause and play buttons; navigation will be intuitive for preschoolers.

Violence & Scariness

Cosmic Quantum Ray and Bobby's World include cartoon violence, such as robot heads exploding and play with toy guns.

Sexy Stuff

Bobby's World includes the words "dork" and "loser."

Drinking, Drugs & Smoking

What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Kabillion - New and classic animated TV shows is sometimes called Kabillion Jr. to differentiate it from the teen iPhone app that includes a social network. It's a subscription streaming service of animated kids' shows. Most content is for preschoolers, but Cosmic Quantum Ray and Bobby's World include some content that may not be appropriate for the youngest viewers, such as cartoon violence and the words "dork" and "loser." In the parent section, parents can allow access to specific shows, and though it's not advertised, a seven-day free trial is available. Content is in English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish.

What's it about?

KABILLION - NEW AND CLASSIC ANIMATED TV SHOWS includes episodes of ToddWorld, Dive Olly Dive, Cosmic Quantum Ray, Chloe's Closet, This One 'n That One, and Bobby's World. Parents can control whether shows are available over Wi-Fi only or if they can be streamed. Parents also can adjust the quality of the download, set auto-repeat and baby mode to lock controls, and choose which shows kids can view; all shows are available by default, but once parents restrict a show, it won't even show up in the wheel of options.

Is it any good?

What Kabillion - New and classic animated TV shows lacks in content, it makes up for in parental controls. Compared to other streaming-video apps for kids, there's not quite as much content, and the content isn't as commercially popular, but parents will appreciate the option to choose which shows kids can watch. There's no setting for time restrictions, though. If kids enjoy the programming, Kabillion - New and classic animated TV shows provides a kid-friendly interface for watching.
