What’s It About?
In LEARN MATH FACTS, kids can practice the following skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, powers/roots, percentages, fractions, and decimals. There’s an option to mix the arithmetic skills into a single practice session. To start, kids choose a skill, a level, and a practice time. There are three levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Practice times are one, two, or three minutes. Answers can be written on the screen or spoken. Two equations are shown at the top of the screen and scroll down for solving, one at a time. There are plenty of opportunities for kids to earn medals by completing challenges, such as “Play 50 games”, “Add: 10 in 1 minute”, and much more.
Is It Any Good?
This a straightforward game that’s only really useful for practicing skills and building fluency since there’s no built-in learning support. There are levels of difficulty, but the math problems within a selected level don't adapt according to how well kids perform. And, there are no bells and whistles – but that might be just what some kids need. The challenges promote daily practice and motivate kids to set their own goals. The handwriting tool is highly functional with very few glitches, and the option to speak the answers is helpful for mental math practice.
Medals that kids earn are saved. However, the game is set up for only one user. Given that a subscription is required for full access, parents would get much more bang for their buck if the game supported multiple users.
