Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Lightning Was Here: My Puzzle Book is an interactive story and puzzle book featuring characters from the Disney/Pixar movie Cars. There's no objectionable content, and like most storybook apps, kids can choose have a narrator read to them or read the story themselves. Words aren't highlighted as they are read.
Is It Any Good?
In LIGHTNING WAS HERE: MY PUZZLE BOOK, racecar Lightning McQueen takes readers on a tour of Radiator Springs, where they'll meet the town's anthropomorphized car characters like Mater, the tow truck, and Luigi, the mechanic. A visual table of contents lets kids skip to any page, and they can also complete a handful of jigsaw puzzles and collect decals to decorate Lightning's hood. The scenes aren't packed with interactive elements, and although the book is read by a great narrator, words aren't highlighted as they're read. Lightning Was Here does have one very neat feature, though -- a "Record" button that lets kids or their parents narrate the story by recording themselves speaking and playing it back for each page.
