A lot or a little?
The parents' guide to what's in this app.
What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Modern Conflict HD is an astoundingly difficult military strategy game. You need to have a very specific kind of tactical mind in order to do well. In terms of the content of the game, the vehicle-based combat shown on screen is mostly symbolic, as this is a strategy game and not an action game. But even with the small, almost toy-like look of the fighting vehicles, you do see them fire missiles and explode when hit.
Is it any good?
While playing through the tutorial levels of MODERN CONFLICT HD, you'll think to yourself, "This is fun." You and your opponent each have a bunch of bases that produce tanks or choppers; you tap a base to deploy its vehicles and tap an enemy base to launch an attack. It seems so simple. Then you enter the actual campaign mode (even on easy level), you're suddenly facing odds that are a zillion times greater than before. Mere seconds into the game, you might look at your bases to see 4 tanks and 5 copters, and while you wait for your forces to slowly increase, you notice a squadron of 35 enemy tanks coming your way. When victory seems impossible, and you're getting pummeled from the word "go," the games suddenly ceases to be fun. On iTunes, the developer says, "If you lose, rethink your strategy and try again!" If that sounds fun to you, by all means, buy this app.
