A lot or a little?
The parents' guide to what's in this app.
What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Need for Speed Shift is a street racing game that rewards aggressive driving. While the kind of street racing in the game would be blatantly illegal, the game does begin with a disclaimer, though, telling players that real racing should only occur on tracks and reminding people to wear safety belts. Head-to-head races are available to players on the same WiFi network. Parents with teens just learning to drive might want to steer clear of this kind of game that rewards reckless driving because of recent studies showing they can influence new drivers.
Is it any good?
NEED FOR SPEED SHIFT shows how good a car racing game can be on a mobile device. A wonderfully intuitive control scheme make this an easy game for anyone to pick up and play, but experienced players can add multiple layers of detail and nuance that increase both the challenge level and the realism. The graphics are also stellar for a mobile game. The price is pretty steep, but if you're looking for a top-notch racing experience for your iDevice, Need for Speed Shift might be worth the money.
