Peppa Pig's Sports Day
What parents need to know
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Peppa Pig's Sports Day features characters from the Nick Jr. show Peppa Pig participating in six different events -- an obstacle race, long jump, bicycle race, tug-of-war, ice cream making, and rosette making. Kids can play alone, or -- for the races, long jump, and tug-of-war -- play against up to three others. The app's designers have made it super-safe for kids by choosing not to collect any analytics or data. Up to three kids can create accounts on each device.

Engagement, Approach, Support
Kids can play alone or with one or more friends, competing in the track and field events. Even the less competitive events will impress them, especially when kids see the ribbons they designed presented to winners in the games.
Kids play together, learning to win and lose gracefully -- important skills for everyone to learn. The sports events may even encourage kids to get outside and try them out in real life.
No real scores are kept, but there are winners (and therefore losers) in each game. If a kid is playing only the computer, he or she will usually win, though. Data is kept from the creative events, though, so kids will see the ribbons they create used in the other games.
What's it about?
Peppa Pig and friends compete in Sports Day. Kids choose an event from obstacle race, long jump, ice cream making, bicycle race, tug-of-war, or rosette making. Friends or family can join them in the racing and tug-of-war games just by dragging their character choice onto the playing field, or kids can play alone against the app. They'll use their creativity to make and decorate their own ice cream sundae and rosette ribbon, and they'll earn stickers for each event they win. Kids can then decorate scenes with the stickers they've earned.
Is it any good?
This is a great app for siblings to enjoy together or for kids to play with mom or dad. The extra players can come and go, just playing an event or two and then moving on without impacting the overall game. The mix of creative games (making rosettes or ice cream) and sports (bicycle racing, tug-of-war, obstacle races, and long jump) will appeal to a broad range of kids. The details make it even more adorable -- the rosettes kids create appear in the games.
