What’s It About?

In PSYCH! OUTWIT YOUR FRIENDS, players choose from a variety of categories (including animals, movies and laws) and then make up fake answers to trivia questions. All of the fake answers, as well as the correct one, are then revealed and all players must try to guess the correct answer. You earn points by either guessing correctly or when other people choose your fib. Players can add a virtual Ellen DeGeneres into the game as well, trying not to guess her Psych answer. While most of the categories are about common areas, one round also lets people answer questions about each other, adding a social element to the game.

There has never been a better time for a good social party game. Psych! Outwit your friends is the latest creation from the team that put together Heads Up! and, like that title, the point of the game is to enjoy the company of others more than focus on winning. The larger the group you can put together -- both in the same room or playing remotely -- the better, as more fake answers make for more opportunities to laugh. Smaller groups might have less fun, though, as it's too easy to figure out who came up with which psych answer. (Four or more is best for a good couple of rounds.)

The addition of a virtual Ellen joining the game will please fans of her show, but isn't an essential component. And the questions about each other can either be lots of fun or slightly awkward, but players tend to take it in stride as part of a game. In a time where everyone is locked in the house and communicating with each other via videoconferencing software, this is a wonderful way to pass the time with friends near and far. And it will bring some much needed smiles to people's faces.
