Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Skrappy - Scrapbook & Photo Album for Digital Scrapbooking is a powerful tool that allows users to compile many forms of media into one album, then share it. The many options included make this a creative tool for older kids, but it may overwhelm younger ones. The app begins with a long, text-based user guide. Users can then create scrapbooks using pre-existing themes such as romance, my music, or recipes, or using a photo or blank page. Within the scrapbook, users can add text, photos, clip art, videos, music, images or pages from the web, or even record their own audio. The option to search pages or images from the web using public photo sites or Google may expose kids to mature content. Finished scrapbooks can be exported to PDF format and shared via email or iTunes file sharing.
Is it any good?
SKRAPPY is a great way for kids (and adults!) to bring all of their digital media together into one app. Being able to add music, video, and audio recordings enhances a typical paper scrapbook, and it's great to easily save and share several albums. There are a few concerns for younger kids -- there are so many options available that it takes some time to get used to the controls, and kids may find mature content when searching the web.
