What parents need to know

Ease of play

Players use a virtual directional-pad and jump button on the device’s touch screen. It’s intuitive enough, but if your thumbs wander off the controls you’ll find yourself unable to control Sonic. That can make some sequences requiring deft hand/eye coordination a little trickier than they would be with a standard controller.

Violence & scariness

Sonic can defeat his cartoonish enemies by jumping on them to make them disappear. Conversely, Sonic can be hurt by spikes, fireballs, and bumping into enemies. He jumps back when hurt and falls down through the bottom of the screen when players lose a life.

Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 is a no-nonsense, no-frills port of the classic platformer that they may have played when they were kids. The mild violence is about on par with a typical Mario game, but the level of difficulty is perhaps a little greater than it has been in previous versions of the game due to the mobile device’s lack of tactile controls.

QUALITY

Sonic’s second adventure, now nearly two decades old, comes to mobile devices in this faithful, warts-and-all port of Sega’s SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. Sonic zips around loops and through tubes, jumps on platforms and enemies, collects golden rings, and searches out hidden power ups, including speedy boots and extra lives. Sonic’s buddy Tails runs alongside him but is currently unplayable (Sega says two-player cooperative play will come via a free update at some point, but the game is currently only for one player).

Fans of retro platformers will undoubtedly get a kick out of this rerelease, but they may be disappointed by the virtual controls, which simply aren’t as comfortable or reliable as a traditional physical controller. And make sure you don’t spend money on something you already have; Sonic the Hedgehog 2 has been a part of several recent Sega collections for platforms including the Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, PlayStation2, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.

Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is a great classic Sonic game

This game had the first appearance of a fox named Miles "Tails" Prower who help Sonic The Hedgehog to defeat Dr. Ivo Robotnik(who is now called Dr Eggman) in this Sonic game Sonic's nemesis Dr. Ivo Robotnik is planning world domination with his army of animals he's placed into robots, and continues to seek the power of the seven Chaos Emeralds - this time, to construct his ultimate weapon, an armored space station known as the Death Egg. The goal of the game is to collect the 7 chaos Emeralds from Robotnik. this game has got lots of great levels and Sega did a brilliant job creating Sonic 2 and the score Im giving Sonic The Hedgehog 2 is 100/100 This game is enjoyable but Sonic and Knuckles is my favourite Sonic game
