Is It Any Good?
Through superb graphics and fluid controls, SPIDER-MAN: TOTAL MAYHEM brilliantly captures the essence of the comic book hero. As Spider-Man, players will swing from lamp posts, ensnare foes in gooey webs, use spidey sense to anticipate enemy attacks, and scale huge skyscrapers. The beat 'em up formula (enter area, defeat all baddies, move on to next area) gets repetitive eventually, but replay value is ensured through unlockable comic book art, the ability to take pictures during boss battles (a nod to Spidey's alter ego, newspaper photographer Peter Parker), and multiple difficulty modes to master.
