A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this app.
Kids can learn how to read an analog clock, if they already have some familiarity. There's no direct instruction on how to read the clock; instead, it allows kids to practice matching analog time to the digital display. The efforts to simplify might confuse some kids who want to see all the numbers. If kids understand the concept of hours and minutes, can read a digital display, and know the basics about analog clocks, Teach Me Time will offer some elementary time-telling practice.
Ease of Play
Teach Me Time is a self-explanatory and easy-to-use tool.
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Teach Me Time is a distraction-free way for kids to become more familiar with an analog clock. The built-in learning mode gives kids an opportunity to test their knowledge of translating a digital clock into an analog clock. Teach Me Time is so simple that it doesn't include numbers around the face of the analog clock, which may prove frustrating for kids who aren't sure where the numbers go or who need things to match completely. Basic knowledge about the elements of time and analog clocks is necessary before use.
Is It Any Good?
Teach Me Time provides a visually simple tool for reading an analog clock. It doesn't provide direct instruction about how to read an analog clock and, instead, gives kids an opportunity to practice matching analog representation to digital display. Feedback on whether the time is correct or incorrect is instant, but there aren't opportunities for kids to try again or understand why they were wrong. Teach Me Time also doesn't collect long-term data, so it's easy to miss patterns (such as not counting by fives when selecting the minute-hand location). Because there are no child-friendly elements, it may be hard to entice kids to use this app.
