Is it any good?

THE LORAX GARDEN is a delightful little gardening sim with artwork as colorful and whimsical as that in the Dr. Seuss book on which it is based. As the game begins, kids will be shown the last few pages of The Lorax, in which the reader is charged with the task of regrowing the Truffula Tree Forests that were hacked down in the story. Players will grow trees (opting for different shapes and colors based on the seeds they use), watering them whenever necessary. Growing flowers will earn them "care hearts" that they can spend to grow their trees faster. While growing flowers, they'll water, pluck weeds, and try not to scare away bees which will pollenate the flowers and help them grow faster. It's all very well done and designed perfectly for younger kids to handle.

Parent of a 2 and 4 year old Written bylaribrook August 4, 2010

So adorable!

This is a really sweet app. If your kids love the Lorax books as mine do, they will love this. But even if they don't know who he is, they will still like growing plants. My two-year old only needed to be shown how to do this a few times and now he can do it on his own (not much reading required). My four year old can play it completely on his own. You plant seeds and care for them and revive the forests. It's happy and cute. The only user interface problem, is a little button by the bottom of your forest that says "Regrow" which means it deletes all your hard-earned trees and flowers and you can start over. I think that should be tucked into an options menu. My son hit it by accident once and was really disappointed that he had to start over. Definitely worth the cheap price :)
