Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that the main source of humor in Unpleasant Horse lies in watching cute, cartoon ponies get chopped up into bloody spurting pulps. Essentially, this is a skill-based jumping game: Can you make your horse leap from one platform to another without ever falling? Except the "platforms" are "Pritty Ponies," and each time you land on one, you force it down to its unseemly death.
Is it any good?
UNPLEASANT HORSE is a funny name, for sure. And the concept of My Little Pony-type critters getting violently demolished is the sort of edgy satire that will appeal to certain adolescents. But the game could be a lot more fun. The only other creatures you get to knock out of the sky are cute little birds and saccharine-sweet Pritty Ponies. Jumping from one to the other over and over loses its dark, twisted charm after a while. There aren't even multiple death animations -- the animals all get destroyed the same way. Unpleasant Horse simple doesn't have that addictive, let-me-see-if-I-can-get-a-little-farther-this-time feel that these types of games need in order to be successful.
