What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Zen Bound 2 Universal is a peaceful and artistic puzzle game that is not meant to be rushed. As you manipulate your device in order to tie a rope around the wooden sculpture on the screen, the object slowly gets painted everywhere the rope touches. You've only got a certain length of rope, so to tie it in a way that covers the entire sculpture is actually quite challenging.

iPhone 4 FTW!

Finally! A game that realizes the graphical potential of the iPhone! Not much of a game, but feeling-inducing nonetheless.

Is it any good?

You've never seen a puzzle game like ZEN BOUND 2 UNIVERSAL. First of all, it is simply stunning to look at -- especially in HD on the iPad. And wrapping a length of rope around a beautifully carved statue is a strangely meditative exercise. Don't get us wrong, though, there is a real challenge here. Finding a way to tie the rope so that it covers the entire object can require loads of trial and error. Focus and concentration are key. So get in that Zen mindstate before you play. If you're looking for a very different puzzle game experience -- or simply some beautiful Asian-inspired artwork to view -- you should give Zen Bound 2 a try.
