Such a Powerful Story!
Eleanor and Park is such a powerful story about friendship, love, and happiness. This story really triggers a lot of emotions such as fear, sadness, joy, and anger. At first, Park was a quiet kid on the bus that wanted nothing to do with Eleanor. Then they started to talk, and they soon realized that they had a lot in common. But Eleanor would shut Park completely out of her personal life in order not to be judged by him, or anybody else. But soon enough they grow close, and Eleanor started letting him into her life slowly. Eleanor’s family situation is very complicated, troubled, and melancholy. Park's family didn’t approve of Eleanor and also didn’t want anything to do with her until they realized that Park was serious about her. Once they got to know her, they grew to like her, and take care of her. If there was one thing that I would change about this book, it would be the ending, it makes you think that they are broken up, or never going to see each other again. I am unsatisfied with this part, and would argue for a sequel. I also believe that a movie should be made out of this book, you might get a better look at how the story might have looked like. There are some parts of the book, that are violent, and scary even. I won’t give away too much, but there is an abusive character that is brutal towards many others. There are many times in the book that I wanted to keep reading and find out what happens next. This book ties together so many things, heartbreak, love, friendship, laughter, heartache, emotion, and outrage, but it is still an amazingly written novel. I really like this book, and would recommend it to any reader that is interested in a story about two soulmates, and their journey.
