What's the Story?
SEASONS, RHYMES IN TIME is a vibrantly illustrated book of poems about the four seasons that includes a CD of those poems performed as songs. The poetry is fresh and evocative as it zeroes in on how it feels and what you do on a day in fall, summer, etc. Sheet music for the songs is printed at the back of the book.
Is It Any Good?
This can be enjoyed either as a book or a CD, but the poetry really shines in the musical setting, where the meter only has to match the underlying notes and fit the singer's inflection. Michael DeWall's voice is warm and sunny -- even in winter! -- and the catchy light rock, folk, jazz, and reggae tunes are addictive: perfect for singing along to in the car, classroom, or playroom.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the seasons. Which one's your favorite? Make a list of the things that season makes you think of, then draw a picture with those things in it.
Do you prefer the poems read out loud from the book or performed as songs on the CD?
Listen to the CD and follow along on the page looking at the words and the illustrations. How does the art help tell the story?
