I really whizzed through this book. It's been a while since I read The Name of the Star, but it was easy for me to get back into the story. Like the "What parents need to know" page says, there's some violence between humans and ghosts, as well as a lot of death and discussion of death. I really liked the messages about overcoming trauma, even though Rory has no trouble recovering. I knew from the beginning that Rory was being drugged (with marijuana via baked goods), and I think parents wondering whether to let their kids read it should think about how much their kids know about the drug and its effects, as well as the effects of alcohol. There's some discussion of suicide as well, which was a bit triggering for me personally, but it didn't affect my overall opinion of the book. I'm really excited for the next book!
