Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about the reasons why they like to visit the library, like the main characters do in ¡Vamos! Let's Go Read. Why do you like to visit the library? What types of books do you like to read? What interesting things have you learned at the library?
Read through this book and identify the different types of things you'd like to do at a book festival. Which activities would you like to explore? Which ones would you enjoy most? Why?
What makes La Chida curious and courageous? How does she demonstrate curiosity when she reads books from the library? How does she demonstrate courage in the hobbies she chooses? Why are these important character strengths?
Latino culture is depicted through lively illustrations about everyday life and the communities we live in. What culture does your family identify with? What kind of places, foods, people, do you see in your community? How are they similar or different from what's depicted in this book?
