Is it OK to use an ebook for my kid's bedtime reading?

Ebooks and iPads are OK for bedtime reading, with a few caveats. Multimedia features, such as animation, video, and sound effects can be stimulating before bed -- and in fact aren't ideal for "literacy-building experiences," according to a study by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. Also, if your ebook has a touchscreen or is backlit, the device light may interfere with sleep. Still, the bedtime reading ritual is a great way both to connect with your kid and pass along valuable literacy skills.
