What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6 is a realistic dirt bike racing game for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and Windows PCs. In the career mode, players create their own rider, and can not only chose from a variety of skin tones, countries of origin, races, and ethnicities, but also if they wish to present as male or female. In other modes, players race as famous pros, but while they're from a wide variety of countries, and represent a number of races and ethnicities, all of them are male. While riders are shown crashing, and being thrown from their bikes, they're not shown being hurt or killed, and there's no blood or gore. Online conversations between players is not monitored. The game is sponsored by Monster Energy Drink, and the company's logo is present through, as are the logos of the dirt bike manufacturers Yamaha, KTM, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki, Gasgas, and Husqvarna.

What’s It About?
Like previous installments, MONSTER ENERGY SUPERCROSS - THE OFFICIAL VIDEOGAME 6 doesn't have a story mode. Instead, it has a career mode in which you, an aspiring professional supercross rider, have to work your way up the standings by beating a series of increasingly difficult races. Except this time around, you have the added benefit of having former pro Jeremy McGrath taking you under his wing as your mentor and coach. Along with the career mode, the game also has online races, and such single-player events as "Time Attack," multi-race "Championship" events, and a new mode called "Rhythm Attack," which is like a one-on-one drag race on an entirely straight track.
Is It Any Good?
Though it's still decidedly for people who love the sport and want a realistic simulation, the latest installment of this dirt bike racing series is a bit more forgiving than previous games. As is always the case with this series, Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6 has a deep career mode in which you create your own pro and help them work their way up the standings by winning races, as well as online races and single-player events that include races against the clock ("Time Attack") and multi-race circuits ("Championship"). All of which come with the same level of realism and depth as any simulation game; hence why you get to fiddle with different aspects of your bike, customizing it aesthetically and mechanically, while having to master the realistic controls and physics.
Except this time around, the controls and physics are a bit more forgiving...well, when you play on the easiest difficulty settings, that is. Or maybe they just finally bought new tires for the bikes. That said, this still isn't the arcade experience some people have been hoping for since this series started. It's more that you just crash and careen off the track a lot less often. Or not at all when you play the fun new mode "Rhythm Attack," a one-on-one race on a long but straight track, which makes it feel like drag racing on a bumpy road. All of which is why, despite the improvements, Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6 is still just for people who love the supercross and want race a dirt bike without getting messy.
Talk to Your Kids About ...
Families can talk about advertising. The logo of Monster Energy drink is present throughout Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6, but does this make you feel differently about the game? Does it make you thirsty, perhaps, for Monster Energy drinks?
All of the riders in Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6 wear helmets and other protective gear, but what message does this send to players, who might try to emulate what they see in this game?
Throughout Monster Energy Supercross - The Official Videogame 6's career mode, you are given advice by a former professional supercross rider, but why is it important to listen to the advice of experts and other people who know what they're talking about?
