Moshi Monsters: Katsuma Unleashed doesn't bring anything drastically new to the table, and it won't go down in history as one of the all-time greats of its genre. That said, it succeeds modestly in its ambition to be a fun and colorful adventure for its young target audience. The game uses a tried-and-true formula with basic gameplay, colorful graphics, and smooth controls. Players who are already fans of the Moshi Monsters website will enjoy the familiar characters and themes. And, to its credit, the game does a good job of living up to the well-designed aesthetic and charm of the website. On its own, though, it doesn't really stand out among the many great side-scrolling platformers available for Nintendo 3DS.
