A Lot or a Little?
What you will—and won't—find in this game.
The game is all about fighting. Players don't kill opponents but instead only knock them unconscious. Still, it suggests that fighting is fun and glamorous.
Positive Role Models
This isn't a story-based game. There are more than 70 characters, and none are ideal role models. They fight and taunt opponents. Most of the female characters are highly sexualized, and some characters make references to getting drunk.
Ease of Play
This game is very challenging. All buttons are required to play, plus analog sticks. There are three punching options, three kicking options, and throws, blocks, jumps, crouches, special moves, and combos. Three kinds of tutorials help ease rookies into the action.
Violence & Scariness
This is a fighting game, so violence is front and center. The main goal is to defeat opponents using punches and kicks, as well as some weapons and magic blasts. There is no blood, but you can inflict damage and pain on male and female humans, animals, and fantastical creatures. Players "KO" (knock out) opponents to win a round. Some sequences are dramatized with slow-motion effects and insults.

Sex, Romance & Nudity
Many female fighters show ample cleavage and enhanced buttocks. The camera often zooms in on these body parts. Breasts have a "jiggly" effect to them.

Swear words -- including "s--t," "ass," "damn," and "hell" -- are sprinkled throughout the dialogue.

Products & Purchases
This game fuses two popular franchises together into one product. Gamers can pay for downloadable content to expand the fighter roster.
Drinking, Drugs & Smoking
Dialogue includes references to alcohol, including "getting drunk" and "having some drinks." One character uses "drunken" moves and looks like he's stumbling and off-balance.

Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know Street Fighter X Tekken is a fighting game. There is plenty of violence as pairs of fighters take on one another, and use many violent moves to win matches with "knock outs." There is no blood, but players will kick, punch, throw, and use some weapon and magic attacks. Parents should also be aware that the game's female characters are highly sexualized. Plus, some characters use profanity and allude to alcohol use. Players can also play online, which means they may encounter additional profanity, share private information, and become part of inappropriate discussions.
Is It Any Good?
This game is wonderfully complex, so it's best to play through the comprehensive tutorial mode. You must master a six-button layout -- three punches and three kicks -- unless you opt for the 4-button layout from the Tekken franchise. Buttons are used in conjunction with the multidirectional analog sticks and chained attacks to create even more moves. In other words, don't expect to randomly "button mash" and succeed in this game. It's also critical to know when to block, throw, and switch characters. The game employs a "gem" system, which lets you customize characters with nearly 60 different jewels (up to three per fighter) to increase performance.
Street Fighter X Tekken offers multiple game modes: Arcade (single-player, with eight levels of play), Versus (multiplayer on the same television), Network (online battles), Briefing Room (train with others online), and the aforementioned tutorial options, including Training (hone your fighting skills) and Challenge (20 varied lessons). Unfortunately, many gamers are experiencing lag while playing online. This isn't good for a fighting game that demands quick reflexes, so hopefully Capcom will iron out this problem sooner than later. Another issue relates to optional downloadable content (DLC) that's already on the disc; if the dozen bonus characters are ready to ship with the game, why are users asked to pay for them later on. Shortcomings notwithstanding, Street Fighter X Tekken is a very fun and challenging fighting game, especially for fans of the franchises.
