What parents need to know
Parents need to know that Volcanoids is an upcoming adventure game for Windows PCs. The game's a combination of exploration, gathering and crafting (the latter is automated), and combat. It also contains a mystery in a vibrant location that needs to be uncovered. Volcanoids takes place on the island of Adranos, which had a robust trading port until mysterious tracks appeared and volcanoes began to erupt, forcing everyone to flee and creating an "apocalyptic landscape." Once things manage to calm down, the citizens on the island suddenly discover massive drill machines on the land protected by robots that will attack anyone getting near these objects. Even worse, players can't casually explore the island, because they have to pay attention to a timer that constantly counts down to the next eruption, forcing players to shelter and ride out each disturbance. Fortunately, Volcanoids is a quest-driven title, with progressive goals displayed on the screen, and as players traverse the landscape, they'll constantly see distances to their targets. What's more, players will have four difficulty settings (easy, normal, hard, and custom) to further challenge their sessions, and the game can be played as a single-player experience, in public multiplayer, multiplayer with friends or as a custom multiplayer. While there currently isn't a tutorial, Volcanoids offers a somewhat gentle learning curve, aside from getting the hang of the crafting, which might take some trial and error. Apart from some mild violence against robots, there shouldn't be any inappropriate content to be found in the game.
