VTech InnoTab Software - Madagascar 3
What parents need to know
Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that VTech InnoTab Software - Madagascar 3 is loosely based on the movie of the same name. In the story portion and one of the games, the characters are being chased by an animal control specialist. There isn't much peril, but kids may ask questions about this chase. Editor's Note: This game's publisher, VTech, experienced a breach of parent and student data on November 14, 2015. Click here for more information.
What's it about?
VTECH INNOTAB SOFTWARE - MADAGASCAR 3 follows familiar animal friends Alex, Marty, Melman, and Gloria as they try to make it back to New York. They catch the eye of animal control specialist, Captain Chantel DuBois, who tries to catch them to add to her collection. The animals hide out in a circus, which is where most of the games take place. Kids will use the motion sensor to dodge cars as they outrun DuBois, help the animals learn the flying trapeze, pack up circus gear, and shoot animals from a canon, all while practicing graphing, arithmetic, spelling, and making comparisons. Creative activities include decorating circus posters, playing music in a band, and taking Madagascar 3-themed photos. The cartridge includes an interactive eBook, three learning games, and a few creative activities.
Is it any good?
VTech InnoTab Software - Madagascar 3 has some clever learning activities that mesh perfectly with the circus plotline. Kids will enjoy the circus theme that is carried throughout. Many of the games are such that kids will enjoy playing them over and over. There is also a fun creative activity that invites kids to help design a circus poster by coloring (a hat, ball, etc.) and using an already existing pattern or creating one of their own. (It's unfortunate that there are only two posters to choose from.)
