We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and thrive.
We fight for policies that provide and strengthen the building blocks of opportunity for all kids, including those that address poverty and other barriers to children getting the right start and policies that support working families, such as paid sick and family and medical leave, fair pay, Earned Income and Child Tax credits, and child care benefits. And we’re helping to modernize services like Lifeline to connect low-income students' homes to high-speed Internet and partnering with the federal ConnectHome program to support families raising kids in public housing by expanding their access to broadband and digital citizenship training.
Last year, in the months after we launched, we made an immediate impact. We helped establish an Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) in California, save the EITC in Michigan, and permanently extend key federal EITC and Child Tax Credit provisions that help keep kids out of poverty. We also became partners in key campaigns to expand high quality pre-k in Massachusetts and Florida and adopt paid family leave in New York.
Common Sense Kids Action is building a movement of parents and teachers and other advocates committed ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive in our rapidly changing world.
