Common Sense Kids Action to Partner with Green Schools Initiative

Imagine a world where children are less likely to suffer from asthma due to air pollution or experience other negative climate-induced health impacts. In this imaginary world, all schools are green, sustainable, and healthy environments. Not stopping there, these environmentally conscious schools exist as models for the communities that they serve.

To help turn this dream into a reality, Common Sense Kids Action is proud to partner with a coalition led by the Green Schools Initiative. Together, we wrote a letter on November 13 to the California Air Resources Board urging the prioritization of cap-and-trade investments in greenhouse-gas-reduction projects at K–12 schools.

State investment in schools for this purpose is fundamental to environmental literacy, sustainability, and children's health. It is up to all of us, in partnership with our schools, to show kids the value of mitigating climate change.
